Dogs are my passion! I hold a BSc Hons degree in Applied Animal Behaviour, with my dissertation focussed on dog breed traits. I am an accredited Clinical Animal Behaviourist, being a full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC), the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) and the Professional Association of Canine Trainers (PACT). This means that I adhere to a strict code for welfare and ethics, and keep up-to-date with regular continuing professional development. I am also first aid trained.
I have always worked with dogs, since my first Saturday job when at school, working as a Kennel Hand. Further experience over the next 20 years includes working as a Dog Behaviour Assessor and Rehomer at Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, an Animal Care Advisor at Purina Pet Foods and a Senior Hydrotherapist and Rehabilitation Assistant at the internationally renowned Greyfriars Veterinary Rehabilitation Centre. I developed and taught the behaviour module used in their Canine Hydrotherapy training courses. This training and experience gave me an excellent practical experience of canine gait and potential pain sources which can affect behaviour.
My combination of qualifications, accreditations and experience, mean I am highly recommended by animal professionals, and generally have business referred to me from vets, breeders, trainers and of course satisfied owners!
I have owned and fostered a wide range of breeds, from shih tzus to rottweilers, with cross-breeds, mongrels, staffies and german shepherds along the way. I have lived with and supported dogs that have had issues such as dog reactivity, people reactivity, resource guarding and separation anxiety. I know how it feels to have a dog with challenging behaviours and have the qualifications, skills and experience to help you.
